BALTIC FOREIGN POLICY FORUM

TWENTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF RE-ESTABLISHMENT OF DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS WITH CANADA - MEETING WITH PARLIAMENTARY FOREIGN AFFAIRS COMMITTEE CHAIRS - ESTONIA, LATVIA, LITHUANIA

Friday, December 2 at 7:00PM, Estonian House, 958 Broadview Avenue, Toronto, Ontario M4K 2R6 416-461-7963

To mark the twentieth anniversary of the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between the Baltic States and Canada, the three Chairmen of the parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committees of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are paying a special visit to Canada. During this time, they will be meeting with their Canadian counterparts in Ottawa, as well as the Baltic-Canadian communities of the Toronto area.
The Baltic communities were a driving force in the long struggle to keep the flame of democracy burning during more than half a century of foreign occupation. It was this continuous reminder which contibuted to Canada maintaining its steadfast position of not recognizing the incorporation of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania into the Soviet Union. Thus, Canadians can truly celebrate the past twenty years of partnership in economic development, mutual political and military support. As NATO allies, Canadian troops have served in peace-keeping initiatives together with their Baltic counterparts in far-flung posts such as Bosnia and Afghanistan.
The Baltic Federation in Canada, in partnership with the Embassies of the Republics of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, is pleased to invite you to a public panel discussion on regional foreign policy issues (questions and answers), to be held at Estonian House, 7:00PM, Friday, December 2nd.

Special guests: Chairs of the Foreign Affairs Committees (Members of Parliament):
Mr. Marko Mihkelson, Estonia. Member of the Riigikogu.
Mr. Romualds Razuks, Latvia. Member of the Saeima.
Mr. Emanuelis Zingeris, Lithuania. Member of the Seimas.

The Ambassadors of the three Baltic States will also be in attendance.
